Melvin Ray (Buddy) Johnson 78, of Cisco went to be with his Lord and Savior March 4, 2018. Graveside Service will be 1:30 P.M. Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Scranton Cemetery officiated by Reverend R.D. Childers under the direction of Kimbrough Funeral Home. Visitation with family and friends will be Friday evening 5:00 to 7:00 at the funeral home.
Buddy was born May 31, 1939 in Dallas County to parents Melvin J. and Mary Lee (Mc Carver) Johnson. He was a graduate of Scranton High School and Cisco Jr. College. Buddy also was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Germany. Throughout his life Buddy had several Jobs. He worked as a compressor mechanic in the oil and gas industry, a deputy sheriff in Palo Pinto County, for Snapp’s Café and Thurber Cattle Company, Mel Matthews Boys Ranch in Cisco and for Eastland County before retiring. On August 1, 1998 he married Ruby Ann James in Ranger, Texas. He attended Nimrod Baptist Church in Cisco and was the MC of the Scranton Musicals for several years and he loved rodeo and roping events.
Buddy is survived by his wife Ruby of Cisco, sons: James Parker of Abilene, Ronnie Parker and wife Angela of Midland, Danny Parker Jr. and wife Sissy of Cisco and Jimmy Parker and wife Victoria of Tyler. Nine grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren.
