Harrell Lloyd Steddum was born to Napoleon Bonaparte (Poly) and Juanita Kinnard Steddum in Mount Calm, Texas on July 25, 1934. Harrell attended schools in Williams, Wylie and Olden, Texas. He enlisted in the Army on August 1, 1951 when he was 17 years old. He was stationed in Virginia, Little Beach. Harrell went onto Harbor Craft school and then onto Hominy, New Foundland and Goose Bay Labrador as a Tug Boat operator. He was then in the Military Police in New Orleans, Louisiana. In 1953 he reenlisted in the Army and was assigned to the Air Force. Harrell was discharged in 1958 and went in the reserves in San Antonio, Texas.
Harrell married Ella Sue Duncan McBride on October 3, 1974 in Eastland, Texas. He helped with the Little League in Cisco for 12 years and also helped with youth football as a coach. Harrell was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Harrell worked for Collins Construction, Buckcannon Construction, Spain Feed Store, Sig Faircloth, Bill Hoffman, Bill Mitchum, Thornton’s Feed Mill, and Cisco Junior College.
Survivors are his wife Sue of Cisco, Children: Viola Dee Richards of Coas Bay, Oregon, David and Corene McBride of Cisco, James McBride of Cisco and Becky and Brian Marshall of Granbury, Texas. Grandchildren: Ricky, Felisha, Miranda, Josh, Dustin, Tiffany, Daisy, Samantha, Brooke and Seth. Great Grandchildren: Alexia, Courtney, Sky, Landon, Tray, Hailey, Parker, Brayden, Raychelle, Tiffany, Matthew, Marcus, Caleb, McKenna, Braxten, Colton, and Aubrey. . Three Siblings, Wanda Boyd of Morton Valley, Patsy Williamson and husband C.W. (Dub) of Morton Valley, and Clayton and Marie Steddum of McKinney.
Harrell’s wishes were to be cremated. Memorial Service to honor his life will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church in Cisco, Texas officiated by Reverend Danny Reid.
