Harry Gabriel Watson, 82, of Cisco passed away November 29, 2017. Harry was born June 26, 1935 in Cincinnati, OH. To Lawrence and Margaret (Martini) Watson. Harry was a Veteran of the US Marine Corps having served in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. After spending 20 years in the Marine Corps and having a few other jobs, Harry began to translate Japanese into English for a living. He studied Japanese for a year while in the Marines. He mostly translated patents, but began to translate a volume of books on ancient Japanese swords, and published them himself, to sell. He belonged to the Japanese Sword Society of the United States.
Harry married Florence Zuiderweg November 12, 1956 in Escondido, California. He made his final move to Texas in 1995 and lived in Cisco for 22 years. He belonged to the coin club and the Southwest Searchers, the metal detector club and made many friends.
Survivors are his wife Florence of Cisco, Texas. Daughter Leita Washburn of Abilene, Laura Gambrel of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Karen Oberkampf and husband Brandon of Hillsboro, Oregon. Grandchildren: Amanda Andrews, Justin Washburn, Quentine Cline, Elijah Rugg, Levi Rugg. Great-Grandchildren: Thomas Andrews, Timithy Tedford, Cassandra Washburn, and Skylar Washburn.
Memorial Service will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday December 16, 2017 at Prosperity Bank Community Room in Cisco, Texas.
