Henry Dale King, 86 of Cisco, Texas passed away April 22, 2017.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday April 26, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Cisco with Reverend Terry Simmons officiating. Cremation services were handled by Kimbrough Funeral Home.

Dale was born May 3, 1930 in Edgewood, Texas as the third child of Henry and Thelma (Cox) King.  As a teenager, the family moved to Claytonville, Texas where he met and fell in love with the girl next door, “Cricket”.  Four years later on March 19, 1949, he wed Mary Oleta (Cricket) Ratliff in Roby, Texas.  Dale and Cricket raised three sons together, Doyle, Jack and Ted King.

Dale was a farmer for many years until 1954 before he began his life’s work doing drywall.   For over 40 years, he owned a successful business, King’s Drywall, where he earned the reputation of being a fair and honest, hardworking man.  After retirement, Dale enjoyed traveling to visit family and friends, working in his yard and growing flowers and vegetables.  He played many instruments including the keyboard, guitar and fiddle.  For many years, Dale was part of the band, “Claude Frank and the Drifters”, playing his guitar at various musicals and festivities in the Big Country area.  Later in life, he combined his love for music and his carpentry and woodworking skills to make fiddles to give to family and friends.

Dale was a member of the Lamar Baptist Church in Sweetwater, Texas where he attended regularly with his family.

Dale is survived by his wife of 68 years, Cricket, three sons, Doyle King and Joyce of Kemp, Texas, Jack King of Sulphur, Oklahoma, Ted King and wife Marsha of Rising Star, ten grandchildren, eleven (soon to be) twelve great-grandchildren, one brother, Pat King and one sister Merle Patton, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Thelma King, two brothers Durwood and Wendell King and three sisters, Grace Loven, Lois Parker and Beat Herron.
