Wanda Murel (Avery) Sneed

Wanda Murel Sneed 75, of Cisco passed away December 10, 2017 in Fort Worth, Texas. Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 14th at Kimbrough Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Reverend Mike Bacon. Burial will be at Scranton Cemetery under the direction of Kimbrough Funeral Home. Visitation with family and friends will be Wednesday evening 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Wanda was born March 28, 1942 in Scranton, Texas to William Thomas and Stella Mae (Wilcoxen) Avery. She was a graduate of Scranton High School and attended TCU and Emory University receiving a Bachelor and Masters of Science in Nursing. She received her PHD in nursing from North Texas State University. She taught at Stanford University in California for 15 years and returned as a Professor of Nursing to Tarleton State University until her retirement. She also served as Director of Nurses at Eastland Memorial Hospital in Eastland, Texas for several years.

On June 27, 1990 she married Paul Aaron Sneed at Calvary Baptist Church in Cisco. He preceded her in death November 12, 2008.

She is survived by two sisters: Delores Meredino of Cisco and Yvonne Avery of Port Lavaca, Texas. One brother; Jerry Avery of Victoria, Texas., and a step-son: William Sneed of Brady, Texas. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister Doris Ann Sneed.

The family would like to say Thank You to Dr. Deluca for all his help and devotion as a friend and associate and to Kathy Sharp, her caregiver for many years. Also to Encompass Healthcare employees Jane Maples, Pat Proffitt and Mollie Kennedy.
