Doris Akers Obituary

Doris Lee Hall Akers of Youngsville, LA died Saturday, July 28, 2018 in Crittenden, Kentucky, while visiting her son James Larkin Akers and his wife Toni.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Kimbrough Funeral Home located at 300 West 9th St. in Cisco, Texas. Interment will follow in Cisco and will take place in the family plot in Oakwood Cemetery. 

Mrs. Akers is survived by:  her son James Larkin Akers and wife Toni of Crittenden, KY; her daughter Karen Leigh (Akers) Warner and husband Bill of Forest, VA; her daughter Lauren Cea (Akers) Haygood and husband Jim of Lafayette, LA; her son Kright Bee Akers and wife Tammy of Baton Rouge, LA; three grandsons:  Joshua Larkin Akers of Waskom, TX; Bryan Andrew Warner of Forest, VA; and Henry Hunter Hargett of Escondido, CA; five granddaughters; Shawna Rachel Akers of Ashville, NC; Gretchen Hall (Akers) Payne of Baton Rouge, LA; Vanessa Leigh Warner of Troy, VA; Amanda Lee Hargett of Bakersfield, CA; Jessica Anne (Warner) Litchford of Forest, VA; two step-grandchildren; Jonathan Amy of Houston, TX and Samantha Akers of Ruston, LA; and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Among many other things, she was a loving and devoted spouse and a supportive and caring mother.  She was preceded in death by her husband Larkin James Akers, her parents James Daly Hall and Alma Lee (Schmitz) Hall, and her brother Joe B. Hall.

Mrs. Akers was born on December 13, 1928 in Cisco, Texas and was 89 at the time of her death.  She attended the public schools in Cisco and along with her parents were active members of East Cisco Baptist Church.  She and her husband lived and raised their family in Uvalde, TX, Waco, TX, Corpus Christi, TX, Lafayette, LA, Folsom, LA, and Youngsville, LA where she lived for the past 46 years.  She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Youngsville, LA and loved her friends and neighbors dearly. She will be greatly missed by all.
