Joe W. Montgomery went to be with his Creator and Savior in his new home on Wednesday September 25, 2019, surrounded by many loved ones and plenty of prayer. His last moments of life were peaceful as he shut his eyes and took his last breath.
To be absent from the earthly body is to be present with the Lord (2 Cor. 5:8). What a homecoming Joe has received! In his Bible, he had written his name after every chapter in the book of Proverbs and several other books as well. Also in his Bible was a list of top priorities he had written which included: 1) Give God the first fruits of your labor and increase, 2) Get out of debt, 3) Get wisdom, 4) Work on the condition of the flesh, 5) Build character and have integrity. Written under Matthew 28:19 was a note, “on the farm, by myself”
How do you describe a Rock, a strong man, and your hero in such a little space when he meant the world to you? Joe had a special place he would go to pray, and the family can only guess that this was the year of commitment to the Great Commission. He shared the gospel in his style and desired to see miracles, signs, and wonders in people’s lives. Through his many accomplishments of serving his country, repairing other’s vehicles, and farming, his proudest accomplishment was that of loving his family. He loved to tell stories, was full of wisdom, and had a good sense of humor. He was hard-working, loved to fish and hunt, but mostly loved Jesus.
Although our life with him feels short, we know he lives in a heavenly place, and we will see him again. Love you dad, George/Donna Montgomery and Rhonda/Ron Pipkin.
