Becky Pence of Eastland passed away Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the age of 70 years, 9 months and 8 days.
Becky was born March 1, 1953 in Abilene to Rufus Pleas and Mary Louise Smith Spears. She attended school in Clyde and was a graduate of the class of 1971. She then attended Cisco Junior College, where she studied photography and got her beautician’s license. She led the first Cisco Junior College Band and Wrangler Belles in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade as a Drum Majorette in New York City in 1971. She married Larry Pence of Cisco on August 12, 1972.
Becky had a sparkling personality and never met a stranger. She was an amazing artist and craftswoman, and an avid reader who spent hours sitting and reading on her front porch. She was the rare breed that never experienced the feeling of the cold. She was extremely witty and was never caught speechless. She had a memory like an elephant.
She took comfort in watching her fish aquariums and her cat, Biscuit. In addition to crafts and reading, she loved cooking, garage sales and flea markets. She loved her four kids and seven grandkids more than anything and always found time to teach her grandkids arts and crafts. She took comedic pride in telling her grandkids stories about their parents. She also took pride in getting up and getting dressed and “putting her face on” and fixing her hair every day, because you never knew who would walk through the door.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus and Mary; sisters Mary Ann, Jane and Frances; her brother Tommy; and beloved pets Jax, Jasmine and Starr.
Survivors include her brother Billy and wife Darla of Spur; son Reagan and wife Kim and their daughters Jade and Marisa of Abilene; son Payton and wife Jana and their daughter Kayton and sons Brody and Ryan of Denver City; son Tyler and wife Lisa and their daughters Anna Kate and Marlee of Hernando, MS; daughter Blake and husband Daniel and their son Walker and bonus sister Brenda Kidd of Eastland; and bonus daughters Summer and Temi of Gorman and Alissa of Austin.
Visitation will be 12:00 to 2:00 PM Friday, December 15, 2023 at Kimbrough-Jacobs Funeral Home. Services will follow at 2:00 PM in the Kimbrough-Jacobs Chapel, with Bobby Lee officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Cisco.
Pallbearers will be Reagan Pence, Payton Pence, Tyler Pence, Walker McClintock, Brody Pence and Ryan Pence.
