Brittie Lois (Mullins) McDonald

Brittie Lois McDonald was born in Haskell Texas on May 22, 1922 and was one of 17 children born to Pink M. Mullins and Mary Elizabeth Smith Mullins. She grew up in Haskell where she met her husband to be, J. C. McDonald, when she was only a child. She helped out on the farm picking cotton until around age 10 when a mouse ran up her trouser leg. It was at that moment that she knew it was time to transition into the kitchen. She would cook for the entire family in leu of picking cotton from then on. She was an amazing cook! 
Lois married J. C. McDonald on September 27, 1941 and they were married for 65 years. During that time Lois became a mother to 4 beautiful children. First came Doris and just 15 months later, Marie was born. Curtis and Phil filled out the little family. Lois enjoyed cooking, fishing, and bowling. She LOVED to waltz and could teach anyone who wanted to learn. Waltz Across Texas was her favorite song. 
Working at Justin Boots in Ft. Worth Texas was one of the highlights of her life. She personally made boots for Mr. Justin and his family. She was a fantastic seamstress and made clothes for herself, her children, and even her grandchildren. She was also a gifted quilter and made quilts for almost every occasion. 
In her later years, she enjoyed playing games with family and friends and would spend hours playing Kings on the Corner, Chikenfoot, and Mexican train with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She continued to fish and go dancing well into her 90’s and lived alone until she was 97 years old. 
Brittie Lois McDonald is survived by her children: Doris and Richard Thames, Marie Garrett, Curtis and Lisa McDonald, and Phil and Debbie McDonald. 
Grand Children: Ken Thames, Mark Thames, Michelle and David Harvill, Col Jim and Lea Atchley, Dr. Phillis and Shane Bunch, Rich and Shelby Frank, Drs. Wayne and Stephanie Atchley, Jordan and Kristen McDonald, and Allison and Kevin Dahlke
Great Grandchildren: Raven Anchondo, Philip and Benjamin Thames; Jeffery, Christine and Brooke Harvill; Aaron Atchley and Sarah Kincaid; A1C Kaila Frank, Ryleigh, Ethan, and Lynsi Frank; Aaron and Austin Atchley; Jack and Darcy McDonald; and Kamryn Dutton and Dorian Dahlke.
