Charles Humphries Obituary

Charles Monroe Humphries of Cisco passed away Thursday, November 7, 2024, at the age of 86. 

Charles was born December 26, 1937 in Oglesby,Texas to Matthew Durham and Lola Blair Humphries. He graduated from High School in Oglesby and later served in the United States Army. He married Doris Dreyer August 16, 1961, and the couple made their home in Cisco. Charles was very involved in the community, serving nine years on the Cisco School Board, six years on the Cisco Junior College Board of Regents and serving on the Church Board and as Sunday School Superintendent. He was known for his woodworking, running Charlie’s Woodshop for over 15 years. He also enjoyed old garden tractor restoration and antiques.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Tonya, three brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Doris; son Mark Humphries and wife Kellie; granddaughter Hope Bailey and husband Dewayne; grandsons Shane Humphries, Justin Tisdall and Jared Tisdall; great-granddaughter Everleigh Rose Bailey, and great-grandchildren Josh, Aliyah, Rylie, Katy and Kara.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Church of the Nazarene, 1008 W 10th Street in Cisco, with David Hollon and Matt Horner officiating.

The family suggests memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
