George Vel Douglas

George V. Douglas, 74, left his earthly home on December 21, 2022, after a short illness surrounded by his loving family. George was born October 15, 1948, in Cisco, TX to George W. Douglas, Jr and Beulah Irene (Preston) Douglas who preceded him in death. He married his high school sweetheart and best friend, Nancy Mae Douglas, February 27, 1968 in Pecos, TX. They were married 54 wonderful years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church-Cisco. George had a special love for his family and his furry kitty, Whiskers. He never missed an event or program that his grandkids participated in. His family always came first. He loved all types of airplanes including R/C planes which he loved to fly and was a World War II history buff. He was Mr. Fix-it for the entire family. We all knew if Papa couldn’t fix it, it couldn’t be fixed. He was a very loving husband, Daddy, Papa and brother. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughters April DiCarlo and husband Richard DiCarlo, Airon Iversen, Amy Parten and husband Todd Parten; grandchildren Amber DiCarlo and fiance Tristen Head, Kathryn DiCarlo and husband Joseph Fischer, Haleigh and Reid Iversen, Makayla, Kelsey, Britlyn, Avery and Mason Parten. He is also survived by his sister, Beverly Wiley and husband Wendell along with 3 nephews, 1 niece and several cousins. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in remembrance of George to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (st.jude.org) or Apollo Support and Rescue For Cats (apollo support and rescue.org). A memorial service for family and close friends will be held on a later date
