George Lee Ramsey was promoted to Heaven on May 1, 2025 in Fort Worth, TX.
He was born on August 30, 1938 to Jack and Jessie Ramsey. He grew up in Putnam, TX. After graduating from Putnam High school, George enlisted in the U.S Army and married his sweetheart, Nettie Lucretia Donaway. He carried out three sets of orders in Germany and deployed to Vietnam. Throughout his military career, he and Nettie raised their children, Lisa Perehoduk and Tim Ramsey. After 20 years of faithful service, George began a second career where they lived in Colorado, Austin, and finally their favorite of all, Fort Worth (close to his hometown of Putnam). He retired from the FAA in 2005.
George was a devoted follower of Jesus, an active member and deacon of Travis Avenue Baptist Church. He devoted his life to his family, his faith and serving his country. He and Nettie were most often seen traveling with friends; in a comfortable chair with a good book; reading his Bible or walking one of his beloved dogs.
George is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Nettie, and survived by his children and their spouses Tim and Rachel Ramsey and Lisa and Mark Perehoduk; his 7 grandchildren: Lindsey, Daniel, Amy, Jessica, Maddie, Bailey, Sunday and 13 great-grandchildren. He was deeply loved and leaves a lifetime of memories for us to cherish.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Dothan Cemetery near Putnam.
