Ike Watts, 96, of Cisco, Texas, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Tuesday, September 19, 2023.
Ike was born in Rising Star, Texas, on May 22, 1927, to Marion Forrest Watts and Clara Etta Dill Watts. Ike attended schools in Baird, Kermit, and Cisco. He married Emma Lou Huber of Cisco on May 5, 1957, at Fort Bliss Military Base in El Paso, Texas, and enjoyed nearly 60 years of marriage together.
In July of 1942, Ike enlisted in the United States Navy and was sent to San Diego, California, and then on to the Pacific Theater in WWII. Upon his Honorable Discharge from the US Navy on July 23, 1946, he returned home to Cisco and held numerous jobs that included working in the oil field, driving a fruit and vegetable truck, and working over 20 years at Cisco Junior College. Ike also worked as a union pipefitter in major power and nuclear power plants, Chemical Plants and Fuel Depots for the Department of Defense, all over the United States, and retired in 1992.
Ike loved being involved in community activities, and helping his wife, Emma with Cisco Civic League, Christmas in May Projects, and the Hilton Foundation. He enjoyed being a member of the Rotary Club, Lions Club, and Shriners International. Ike was a dedicated member of Masonic Lodge #556 for over 61 years and was a 32nd degree Mason. During that time, he held many offices and became a Past Master. He also received the Masonic Texas Golden Trowel Award, which is rarely given for dedication to service and giving to the community.
For enjoyment, Ike loved to play golf, ride motorcycles, travel, and camp anywhere there were mountains, play dominoes, and spend time with family and friends. He thoroughly enjoyed his Coffee Groups.
Ike is preceded in death by his loving wife, Emma; parents Marion and Clara; siblings Forrest, Gayland, Willard, Edgar, Ralph, Velmaree, Jurald, and George; and golfing buddy Boggie.
Ike cherished and loved his family very dearly. He is survived by his son, Ricky Watts and wife, Diana of Cisco; daughter, Susan Moore and husband, Miles of Eastland; grandson and best friend, Eric Watts of Cisco; granddaughter, Melissa Wilks and husband, Justin of Ft Worth; granddaughter, Amanda Watts of Weatherford; and great-grandson, Jonathen Wilks of Ft Worth, whom he affectionately called “Bradley;” brother, Donald Watts and wife, Pat, of Denver, Colorado; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins; his great-granddogs, Lucy and Saidie of Cisco.
Visitation with family and friends will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Kimbrough-Jacobs Funeral Home in Cisco, Texas. A Celebration of Life will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Cisco, Texas, followed by interment at Oakwood Cemetery in Cisco under the direction of Kimbrough-Jacobs Funeral Home. A lunch for family and friends will follow at Redeemer Lutheran Parish Hall.
