James Kevin Murray

Kevin passed away on December 6, 2020 at the age of 59, after losing a battle with Alzheimer’s disease that had taken him away little by little.  Kevin was born on August 6, 1961 in Biloxi, MS to Pat Murray and Dell Kimsey. 

Kevin graduated from Weatherford High School in 1979 after being placed in the Pythian Children’s Home around age 12 by his grandparents, James and Oneita Kimsey, who he thanked many times.  He always said that was the best thing that could have happened at that age since his grandparents were not able to take care of 3 young children.  He then joined the Navy in 1981 and spent the next 6 years serving his country in active duty then served a few more years in the Naval Reserves. 

Kevin moved to Cisco in 1987 to work for his longtime friends Mel and Wade Matthews at their boy’s Ranches.  That when he met the love of his life, Kim Darr and they married on December 31, 1987.  He worked for and retired from US Postal Service in Cisco where he made many friends. 

a memorial service will be held  10:00 AM Saturday January 23, 2021 at the First Baptist Church in Cisco with Reverend Joe Cooper Officiating visitation will follow.

Kevin loved to fish, golf and go camping in Colorado with family.  His biggest love was watching his boys learn how to fish and catch the “big one” or going golfing with his boys, there was always a competition to be had, especially when his brother Brad was playing!

Kevin was preceded in death by his grandparents and his parents: Dell Kimsey and Pat Murray and brothers, Larry Palinski and Timothy O’Neil.

Kevin is survived by his wife Kim of 33 years, sons Colby Murray and wife Ni Murray of Bangkok, Thailand, Brady Murray and wife Amanda Murray of Weatherford, TX and Tyler Murray and wife Kennedi Murray of Breckenridge, TX.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Indie Murray of Bangkok, Thailand, Waylon and Charli Murray of Weatherford, TX and Kash Murray of Breckenridge, TX.  He is survived by brothers, Rick Murray of Sulpher Springs, TX, Brad (Uncle Bink) Murray of Nashville, TN, and sisters, Kimberly Murray of Plano, TX, Michelle Smart and husband Brian Ely of Perryville, KY, Ashley Murray Reynolds of Plano, TX, and Karen Renee Marshall and husband Kyrrin Marshall of Portland, OR and several nieces and nephews and aunts and uncles.  He is also survived by his in-laws who he always said were more his parents: Royce and Shirley Darr of Cisco, TX. 

As per his wishes, Kevin was cremated.  There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date, when it is possible for his son Colby and family to travel from Thailand.
