Jerry Travis Hunsaker of Rising Star passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at the age of 73.
Jerry was born July 1, 1952 in Borger to Pirtle and Norma (Farley) Hunsaker. He married Elizabeth Ray in 1972, and the couple was together for 53 years.
Jerry worked at Phillips Petroleum for 21 years. After leaving the petroleum industry, he purchased land in Eastland County and raised cattle and hay. He later worked at ACE Hardware in Cisco and did construction work. He was a member of the Elk’s Lodge and was named Elk of the year in 1995 in Borger. He washed dishes at the Lord’s Acre meal at Cisco Methodist Church. He loved spending time hunting and fishing and searching for arrow heads.
Jerry was a generous, thoughtful and kind man. He loved his family very much. He was not one to sit still and his favorite hobby was work.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pirtle and Norma Hunsaker.
Survivors include wife Elizabeth of Rising Star; son Aaron Hunsaker and wife Lisa of Carrollton, and their children Eliza and Lillian; daughter Kara Potter and husband Porcious of Cross Plains, and their children Kaitlyn Wheeler and husband Alexander of Cross Plains (children Viola and Margo), Trent Potter of Fredonia, Alaina Potter of Cross Plains and Langly Potter of Cross Plains; brother Randy Hunsaker and wife Gail of Cisco; and sister Karen Worthington of Cisco.
Visitation will be 12:00 to 1:00 PM Monday, August 25, 2025, at Cisco Methodist Church, 405 W. 8th Street in Cisco. A celebration of Jerry’s life will follow at 1:00 PM, with Kevin Morton officiating. Burial will be at Pioneer Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Scott Hutton, Nicholas Northcutt, Kaitlyn Wheeler, Porcious Potter, Tony Thomas and Trent Potter.
