Jerry Bob Wilson passed away Thursday, January 19, 2023 in Katy, Texas at the age of 85.
Jerry was born February 8, 1937 in Cisco to Fredrick and Verna Mae Wilson. At a young age he traveled the country singing and playing his guitar along side some of country music’s greatest. He attended Howard Payne University. He served in the United States Army. Jerry married Lydia Juanita Mauldin December 30, 1961 in Rising Star, and the couple had two children. She preceded him in death August 28, 2022.
His life’s work was in iron works, building driveway gates and furniture. He retired from Aztec Castings in 2014. He was a Mason, a Shriner, and the president of the National Ornamental and Miscellaneous Metals Association (NOMMA). Jerry enjoyed playing fast pitch softball, where he pitched for numerous teams in the Houston area and the state. He coached little league baseball and was the founding member and president of Sharpstown Winter League Baseball. It was the first fall/winter baseball league in Houston. He was a member of Sharpstown Baptist Church.
He is survived by his son, David Wilson and wife Kim of Katy; daughter Jennifer Lopez and husband Gerry of Cypress; grandchildren Zachary Wilson of Denton, Alexis Wilson of Katy, Julian Lopez and Myla Lopez of Cypress; siblings Herman Wilson and wife Judy, Jimmy Wilson and wife Carolyn, Billy Wilson and wife Jo, Linda Oates and husband Larry, Sandra Putney, Joan Gerhardt and husband Larry, Jane McIntire and husband Marcus, and sister-in-law Marsha Fass and husband Mike. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Kimbrough Funeral Home. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
