Joe Dennis Jarvis

Joe Dennis Jarvis of Cisco went to be with his Savior Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at the age of 66.

Joe was born March 23, 1958 in Munich, Germany to John Riley and Danna Denson Jarvis. He graduated from Blackwell High School in 1976 and moved to Cisco to attend Cisco Jr. College.  He married Janella Hudgens July 21, 1978 and the couple made their home in Cisco, where Joe worked as a welder for 35 years at Burgess/Peerless.  After its closing, he continued his welding career at ProFrac.

Faith, Family, Country and Community were important to Joe. He not only served in the Naval Reserves, but became a vital part of the community from the time he arrived in Cisco. In addition to his welding career, he was a member of the Cisco Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as Chief and in other capacities.  He served as Mayor, as well as on the City Council.  Joe also served on various boards throughout his years including Cisco ISD, Cisco College Board of Regents and the Cisco Cemetery Association.  He was a member of First Baptist Church for 36 years, serving as a deacon for 26 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Danna Jarvis.

Survivors include his wife Janella of Cisco; sons Jacob Jarvis and wife Heather of Cisco, and Jory Jarvis and Shawna Taylor of Lubbock; grandchildren Jaci, Jayleigh, Julia and Joe Riley; siblings Johnny, Marilynn, Margaret and Marian; and many nieces and nephews who he loved as his own.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Kimbrough-Jacobs Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday, June 10, 2024 at First Baptist Church Cisco, with Dr. Tommy Culwell officiating. A private family interment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Rees, Rodney Rees, Chris Cass, Roy Brown, Jerry Don Hudgens and Ryan Haggard.
