John Carlile left this life Saturday, January 28, 2023 at the age of 84.
John was born August 18, 1938 in Cisco to John Howard, Sr. and Gladys Juanita Finley Carlile. He graduated from McMurry and served in the United States Army and National Guard. He lived in Lubbock most of his life and worked for Allstate Insurance, retiring after over 50 years of service. On September 26, 1959, he married Jan Wallace. The couple was married over 60 years before she preceded him in death in 2021, two years to the day of John’s passing.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, the Dallas Cowboys, and Jim Ned and Texas Tech sports. He loved his family and grandkids, and enjoyed going to Ruidoso, NM. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lubbock. John was a wonderful husband, father and grandparent.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Jan, his parents and granddaughter Livi Lindley.
Survivors include daughters JDana Lindley and husband Tom and Jena Moore and husband Curt; brother Omar Carlile and wife Pat; grandchildren Alex McClure and husband Marshal and Will Lindley and wife Janellys; great-grandchildren Gabriel Lindley and Theo Lindley; and beloved family members , nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 PM Friday, February 3, 2023 at Kimbrough Funeral Home in Cisco, with services to follow at 2:00 PM. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jim Benton, Don Wallace, Tom Lindley, Curt Moore, Will Lindley and Marshal McClure. Honorary Pallbearers will be Omar Carlile and Tommy Terry.
