Marvin Linton Batteas of Cisco went to be with the Lord Monday, January 23, 2023 at the age of 80.
Linton was born July 1, 1942 in Roby, Texas to William D (W.D.) and Oneta Duncan Batteas. He attended Roby High School and served in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1964. He married his bride of 50 years, Brenda Gail Allison, February 2, 1973.
He was a home builder, cabinet maker and owned several companies, including a laundromat, water bed shop and an arcade. He was active in Cisco, serving as Mayor Pro-Tem, Kiwanas Club President, and serving on the City Council. He was involved in Toys for Tots, Habitat for Humanity, Christmas In July and was Woodmen of the World President. He also coached little league and was a Sunday School teacher at East Cisco Baptist Church.
Linton was honest, kind, creative, an entrepreneur, had a green thumb, and was always busy. He was highly motivated, loving and loyal, and loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Kimberly Dawn Kelley, grandsons Brent Batteas, Austin Lee and Azar Kelley; brothers J.D. Batteas and Lester Batteas; and sisters Viola “Boby” Fudge, Elizabeth “Sister” Simmons, Dorislene Gragg, and Helen Russell.
Survivors include his wife Gail Batteas; 2 sons, Mike Batteas and his wife Rebecca, and Randy Batteas and his wife Renee, all of Eastland; 2 daughters Terry Renfro and her husband Billy of Azle; Melissa Van Til and her husband John of Southlake; 15 grandkids, 15 great-grandkids and 3 great great-grandkids; two sisters, Donnie Cozby of Abilene and Alene Ebling of Plainview; multiple cousins, nieces and nephews; and his four legged friend, Tanner.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, January 27, 2023 at Kimbrough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, January 28, 2023at First Baptist Church Cisco, with Danny Morgan Boyd officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
