Mamie Ruth (Steffey) Wilcoxen, 91, passed from this life Wednesday, October 27, 2021 in Ranger, Texas. She was born August 9, 1930 in Cisco, Texas to Fred and Reba Steffey. Mamie Ruth attended and graduated from Cisco High School in Cisco, Texas and attended Cisco Junior College in Cisco, Texas.

Mamie Ruth married the love of her life, Franklin Wilcoxen, on January 14, 1955 in Cisco, Texas. The couple moved around following Frank’s employment to Abilene, Texas, Baycliff, Texas Richmond, Texas, Cedar Park, Texas and then finally settled down in Cisco, Texas in 1973. They raised four children together who were her absolute pride and joy. They were married 59 years until Frank passed away on April 14, 2014. She took such good care of him throughout their marriage.

Mamie Ruth was a member of the I20 Church of Christ in Cisco, Texas where she worshipped her Lord and Savior. She was employed by the Eastland Memorial Hospital in the Accounting Department for 29 years and loved her job. She said often that she wished she was still able to work there. Mamie Ruth worked very hard to support and care for her family. After retirement, Mamie Ruth enjoyed reading, piecing quilt tops for her family, watching Hallmark movies, and spending precious time with her family. She was a huge Cisco Lobo football and Lady Lobo basketball fan until the end. She will always be remembered for her sweet tooth and her cherry pies, Christmas cookies and candy.

Mamie Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings: Fred and Frank Steffey and LaVerne Andrews, as well as her husband, Frank Wilcoxen.

Mamie Ruth is survived by her children: Beverly Smith and husband Bobby of Cisco, Texas, Donna Sharpe and husband Rodney of Eastland, Texas, Brad Wilcoxen and wife Wendy of Eastland, Texas and Vicki Brandon and husband John of Antlers, Oklahoma. Grandchildren;
Christy Byrd and husband Tom, Robert Smith and wife Kristine, Kristopher Sharpe, Kelsey Cunningham and husband Levi, Kaleb Sharpe and wife Shalee, Melissa Collier and husband Andy, Jamie Palmer and husband Trey, Mati and Rhett West, Jordan Muddle and husband Tyler, Jacob Brandon, Vanessa Avery and husband Michael, and Brooke Uola and husbandTuomas. Great grandchildren: Rachel Forman and husband Rhett, Tommy Byrd and wife Brigette, Alec and Grace Byrd, Zachary, Madi, Brant and Meg Smith, Morgan and Caitlin Inman, Peyton, Brock and Stetson Sharpe, Emily, Levi and Grant Collier, Avalynn Palmer and Liam Avery. Great granddaughter: Dorothy Ruth Forman, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.


Visitation with the family will be Thursday night, October 28, 2021, 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Kimbrough Funeral Home in Cisco, Texas.

A celebration of Mamie Ruth’s life will take place on Friday, October 29, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Kimbrough Funeral Home Chapel in Cisco, Texas. Burial service will follow in Oakwood Cemetery Cisco, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the I20 Church of Christ, Cisco, Texas for the Lake Cisco church camp fund or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital
