Margaret "Madge" Fischer Obituary

Margaret “Madge” Mary (Tippy) Fischer of Eastland went to be with her Savior Sunday, November 9, 2025, at the age of 83.

Madge was born March 21, 1943 in Bastrop, Louisiana to Madison Frank and Margaret Mary (Gilliam) Tippy.  She attended college for a year and a half, and had a career in bookkeeping, mostly self-taught. Her jobs included a number of forensic type of positions. One position was for a contractor that had never had a bookkeeper look at his books before. Through the course of her assembling and back dating the books she found over $300,000 that he had never billed.

Her current marriage of 42 years is her third marriage. She jokingly said it took her three times to get it right. She met Ron when she was taking square dance lessons. Over the course of a year, she went from being one of his dancing partners to his partner in life. She was eight and a half years older than Ron and yet they had a strong bond. When they got married her two children were finishing High School, so he had no significant impact in their growth. She always regretted that she could not have additional children to provide him with a child of his own, but her children and Ron have a deep respect and love for each other.

One of the major organizations that she was involved with was the Epiphany Ministries of Texas. This ministry ministers to the incarcerated. She became involved with the Ministry at Ron Jackson Correctional facility in Brownwood, the facility housing young girls. For over 10 years she made a monthly visit from her home in Joshua. In addition to the monthly visits there was also two to three times a year and extended weekend where selected young women would be exposed to Jesus' love.

Madge loved to sew. She was involved in quilt making and machine embroidery. Although she considered herself a techno-tard, she would spend hours at her embroidery machine and make different items. Many of these items she gave away two people she thought would appreciate them.

Madge was a very loving and giving individual. She loved her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. This in spite of some riffs in there relationships. She was happiest when she was working at epiphany or working with her quilting or machine embroidery. She was an excellent seamstress that assembled a suit for her son at the early age

She is pre-deceased by her parents Madison Frank Tippy and Margaret Mary Tippy. She is also pre-deceased by her brother Madison Frank Tippy Junior.

She is survived by her husband Ronald Clair Fischer of Eastland, son Anthony Whitfield of Eastland and daughter Alisa Reafs of Whidbey Island Washington State. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and great-grandchildren spread across the United States.
