Mary Elizabeth Cozart

It is with a heavy heart that Kristie and I announce the passing of our mother, Mary Elizabeth (Liz) Taylor Cozart, on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

Liz was born in Baird Texas to Mary Lennis Rice Hoffman and Kennith Hoffman.  In 1952 when Liz was 3, her mother married Elvey Taylor. Elvy adopted the girls, Liz and the twins. The Taylor family lived just south of Cisco on the “farm”. Liz attended school in Scranton and Cisco.

In July 1966, Liz married Larry Cozart.  Liz was a homemaker for 58 years and raised two daughters. She was a life long baptist and enjoyed serving in her church where she was needed. Liz did not join the employment ranks until her children were in school and wore many different employment hats through out the years. She was manager of Dairy Queen in Albany, bookkeeper for Cisco Lumber Company, a dental assistant, a house manager, did production line and quality control for Russell Newman Fabrication, and Seibert Elementary school with Eastland ISD.  In 1999, Liz and Larry retired and prepared for the move to Stephenville Tx.

Liz enjoyed making and learning new crafts. She sewed, crocheted, painted, played guitar, made cards, tatted, and cross stitched.

Preceding her in death  were husband Larry Cozart, her parents Elvy and Mary Taylor,  sisters Amy McClanahan and Marie Starr, and one grandson Matthew Justin Bint.

Survivors include her daughters Kristie Bint of Stephenville and Karen (Tim) Daniel of Lubbock; six grandchildren Kari (Kevin) Vogler of Canyon Lake,  Paden (Starla) Bint of Cisco, Hayley (Chris) Easterman of Lubbock, Faith (Creighton) Henderson of Haskell, Taylor Brooks and Catherine (Braden)Darrow of Abilene; eight great grandchildren, Raylie, Avery, Evelynn, Raiden, Kolbie, Alice, Matt Wayne, Peyton and one on the way. Brothers-in-law Norris Starr of Cisco, Travis (Johnnie) Cozart of Stephenville, and Stanley (Linda) Cozart of Midland; one aunt, Dora Faye Rice Simmons of Stephenville; and many nieces, nephews and Cousins.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and caregivers from Stephenville Nursing & Rehabilitation and Wings Over Texas Hospice.
