Myrna Jean (Cooper) Matthews

Myrna Jean Matthews, 85, went to be with her Lord and Savior after a lengthy illness July 8, 2024. She was born February 4, 1939 in Ada, OK to Ben C. Cooper and Irene Petty Cooper.

Myrna graduated from Haskell High School in 1958. In 1959, she married her high school sweetheart Jerry Matthews. They were married 59 years. Myrna was involved with child care for many years until her retirement. She then operated Jewels & Junk antique store in Cisco for 25 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry O. Matthews of Cisco, son Wade Matthews of Cisco, and brother Paul Cooper of Cisco.

Myrna is survived by a son, Mel Matthews and wife Vera of Cisco, daughter Julie Sharp of Tulsa, OK, and sister Phyllis Klose and husband Jerry Don of Haskell, TX. She also left behind eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to honor her life will be held at 2pm, July 21, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Cisco, TX officiated by Pastor Tommy Culwell.
