His love for animals showed from a very young age.  He enjoyed raising horses and chickens and always had dogs.  His most recent companion was his beloved dog Sam who stayed by his side until the end.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, T.A. and Josephine York of Bogata and Carlton and Lois Holder of Cisco; brother John York, sister Ann Eckols, sister-in-law Kathy York, and nephew Adam York.  He is survived by one brother, Steve (Darah) York of Decatur; one sister, Sue York of Cisco; brother-in-law Joe Eckols of Granger; sister-in-law Joy McElroy of Greenville; three aunts, Dixie Stringfellow of Bogata, Carlene Spicer and Janice (Victor) Latham of Abilene; six nieces and nephews, Jessica (Kevin) Diaz of Coleman, Jacob (Kathy) York of Trophy Club, Mary (Ethan) Gainer of Greenville, Dana (Billy) Little of Colorado Springs CO, Sarah (Carter) York-Loveless of Farmers Branch, and David (Patricia) York of Cisco; and several great nieces and nephews.
