On the morning of Tuesday, October 17, 2023, Reginald Van Pittman, Sr. passed away peacefully.
Reggie was born November 11, 1941 in Abilene to Albert B and Pauline E. Deisman Pittman.
Reggie loved his family and friends and enjoyed family visits, especially at Christmas. He loved the Lord and ministered to all. He went to Seminary in Grand Prairie and was a long-time member of Bible Baptist Church in Cisco.
He was in the military and served in Germany. After the military, he married the love of his life, Carol Ivey from Abilene. Together, they had a son, Reggie Pittman, Jr., and a daughter, Lynn Petrie.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and VFW , where he served as Post Commander. Reggie was a County Commissioner for 22 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his loving wife Carol, who he is rejoicing in heaven with now. He is home.
He is survived by his son, Reginald Van Pittman, Jr. (Little Reggie) and wife Shay of Abilene, his daughter Lynn Petree and husband Burl; brother Albert, sister Paula and brother Mikey; multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren (with one arriving this month); and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A private family service was held Thursday, October 19, 2023.
