Robert Lee King, 83, of Cisco, Texas, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 20, 2020. Robert “Bobby” was born on August 13, 1937, to Virgil Parr King and Cora Beulah Gray King in Corpus Christi, Texas. After serving in the Navy, he returned to Corpus Christi and married Judy Lynn Van Meter on December 21, 1969. They had two children: Morgan Reid King and Stephanie Leanne (King) Cozart.
Bobby worked with the US Postal Service in Corpus Christi before moving to the hill country in 1987. There he worked as a CNA at a Kerrville nursing home and as a clerk at HEB until he retired in 2002. He attempted to retire to the coast to return to his roots and love for saltwater fishing but discovered he would rather live near his grandsons and watch them grow up playing ball. In 2006, he moved to Cisco, Texas, where he became a Lobo fan and the proudest grandpa his boys could have. Although separated by distance to three, he was so very proud of all of his grandsons. He was a doting father, guiding us through scripture to love and forgive always. He looked forward to family dinners and making road trips to follow his favorite two Loboes.
Bobby became a member of Cisco Church of Christ. He had a heart for the youth and the Lake Cisco Church Camp. He also enjoyed weekly singings and visits at Cisco Nursing and Rehabilitation with his church family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Cora King; two sisters, Lorena Mae Ensslin and Jeanie King; and son, Morgan R. King.
Bobby leaves behind to cherish his memory a son, Lorin King (Kathy) of Greeley, CO; a daughter, Stephanie Cozart (Kelly) of Port Aransas, Texas; grandson, Daylon Cozart of Port Aransas, Texas; Dalton Cozart (Cierra) of DeLeon, Texas; a great-grandson, Heston Cozart; daughter-in-law, Sandi King Burrell of Candler, NC; grandson Jody King (Peyton) of Norman, OK; grandsons Lucais King and Zachary King of Candler, NC; a brother, Virgil King of Corpus Christi, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, church family, and friends.
Services will be Wednesday, December 23 at 1pm in the Kimbrough Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Bro. Jim Bosley and Bro. Kelly Cozart. Private burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday 5pm-7pm at Kimbrough Funeral Home.
Memorials in Bobby’s name may be given to the Lake Cisco Christian Camp.
